TWIN ROLL STRIP CASTING APPARATUS HAVING GAS-KNIFE COVER MEANS FOR IMPROVING SURFACE QUALITY OF CAST STRIP

PURPOSE: A twin roll strip casting apparatus having gas-knife cover means for improving surface quality of cast strip is provided to effectively cut off inflow of external gas into meniscus shield by reinforcing sealing of the meniscus shield and gas knife connection part. CONSTITUTION: The twin roll strip casting apparatus having gas-knife cover means for improving surface quality of cast strip comprises a pair of casting rolls(20,20') which are rotated oppositely to each other in the cooled state to cast the cast strip; an edge dam that is installed at both sides of the rolls(20,20') to form molten steel pool; a meniscus shield(60) that is installed at the upper part of the molten steel pool to supply inert nitrogen gas into the upper side of the molten steel pool; a pair of gas-knives(70) that are connected to the meniscus shield(60) in a width direction of the rolls(20,20'); and a cover means(80) that is installed at the connection part of the meniscus shield(60) and gas-knives(70) to cut off inflow of the external gas, wherein the cover means(80) comprises a sheet material(82) that is closely adhered onto the surface of the rolls(20,20'); a magnet member(84) for fragment collection and gas film thickness adjustment that is arranged on the upper part of the sheet material(82); and a heat resistant cover(86) that is covered on the upper part of the magnet member(84) so that the cover means(80) improves quality of cast strip.
