METHOD OF SEALING SIDE OPENING OF DISCHARGE TUBE OF PLANE ILLUMINATING DEVICE

PURPOSE: A method of sealing a side opening of a discharge tube of a plane illuminating device is provided to prevent adhesive from being detached from a side plate when the shape of the side plate attached to an opened side of a plane discharge tube is formed. CONSTITUTION: A side plate(45) having a groove corresponding to an opening part of a discharge tube(40) is formed. A small amount of adhesive is applied to the groove of the formed side plate. The opening part of the discharge tube is inserted into the groove of the side plate and a post process is carried out to attach the discharge tube and the side plate to each other. The side plate is formed of the same material of the discharge tube. The adhesive is a liquid adhesive. The post process is to press the discharge tube against the side plate.
