PURPOSE: Provided are a bactericide, an antiseptic, a composition for application to the skin, a cleaning composition, an antimicrobial fiber assembly, a method for sterilizing microorganisms and a method for controlling propagation of microorganisms. CONSTITUTION: The bactericide comprises at least an amide group-containing guanidine derivative represented by general formula (I), in which R1 and R2 are each a hydrogen atom, a 1-4C straight-chain or branched-chain alkyl group or alkenyl group and may be the same or different; R3 is a 1-22C straight-chain or branched-chain alkyl group or alkenyl group; A is a 1-10C straight-chain or branched-chain alkylene group or alkenylene group or its salt. The antiseptic comprises the amide group-containing guanidine derivative or its salt. The amide group-containing guanidine derivative has excellent antimicrobial activity and high chemical stability.
