PURPOSE: A therapeutic composition for nervous diseases, containing an extract of Ophiopogon japonicus or Liriope platyphylla is provided, therefore it is useful for treatment of nervous diseases caused by death of nerve cells. CONSTITUTION: The therapeutic composition for nervous diseases contains the extract of Ophiopogon japonicus or Liriope platyphylla, wherein the extract of Ophiopogon japonicus or Liriope platyphylla is obtained by using a solvent selected from the group consisting of C1-C6 lower alcohol, water and an organic solvent; the nervous diseases include cerebral apoplexy, Parkinson's disease, senile dementia or Alzheimer's disease; the extract of Ophiopogon japonicus or Liriope platyphylla is included in an amount of 0.1 to 20 wt.%; and the composition is formulated into a form of tablet, capsule, solution or syrup.
