PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide communication equipment and a communication method by which quickness in obtaining information is harmonized with communication expenditure concerning the communication equipment for performing facsimile communication via the Internet. SOLUTION: A sub-address signal, a succeeding destination for transmission via a public network, a succeeding destination for transmission via the Internet, a time period for transmission to the succeeding destination via the public network and a time period for transmission to the succeeding destination via the Internet are registered in response to a memory box. When facsimile reception is selected and the sub-address signal is received, it is decided whether transmission is conducted to the succeeding destination via the public network or the Internet based on the time period for transmission to the succeeding destination via the public network, the time period for transmission to the succeeding destination via the Internet and a present time.
