PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an optical transmission system which easily and efficiently convert into an optical signal unit of the other wavelength region at an optical signal level without returning the optical signal unit of a predetermined wavelength region transmitted by an optical fiber. SOLUTION: In an optical transmission system, a plurality of optical signals of different wavelengths are transmitted by use of an optical transmission path obtained by connecting a first and second optical fiber of a different zero dispersive wavelength. In a conversion means, each of the plurality of optical signals of different wavelengths of a first wavelength region is transmitted by the first optical fiber, not containing the zero dispersive wavelength of the first optical fiber. Each of the first optical signals converted at the same time into a plurality of second optical signals of different wavelengths of a second wavelength region which do not contain the zero dispersive wavelength of the second optical fiber, and the plurality of second optical signals are output to the second optical fiber. The conversion means is provided at a connection point of the first and second optical fibers. |
