PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To reduce the consumed toner amount while maintaining the density change concerning the edge of a picture with a precipitous density such as a character line drawing even when a toner save mode is set in a printer having the toner save mode in a simple configuration. SOLUTION: When the main scanning direction resolution of a printer engine is four times the resolution of an original picture, one pixel of the original picture corresponds to the portion of four pixels concerning the main scanning direction of the printer engine. When a pixel under consideration is in a state where the four pixels are painted-out with high density and also the toner save mode is set, only three of the four pixels are actually painted-out. When the density difference between the pixel under consideration and the pixel at the left side of it is equal to or more than prescribed and also the left pixel is lower in density, TBL2 is adopted as a paint-out pattern for the pixel under consideration in order to keep so that the density difference between the pixel under consideration and the left pixel is precipitous. When the density is lower in the right pixel of the pixel under consideration, TBL3 is adopted for performing printing. |
