PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To restrain the increase of driving torque occurring in the case of applying a lubricant on the surface of a member to be cleaned of an image carrier and an intermediate transfer body and to prevent toner and an additive from being fused on the surface of the member to be cleaned over a long term. SOLUTION: This image forming device is equipped with a developing device 17, a density control means 30 forming a reference image for detecting density on the surface of the image carrier 1 and controlling density based on the detected result about the density of the reference image, and a cleaning device 11 equipped with a lubricant applying means 10 for applying the lubricant on the surface of the image carrier 1 and removing the foreign matter on the surface of the image carrier 1 by rubbing the edge part of an elastic blade 2 on the surface of the image carrier 1. Then, a means 16 for stopping or postponing the performance of density detecting operation by the density control means 30 in the case of detecting a specified condition to increase the driving torque of the image carrier 1 is used in the device. |
