PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a magnetic recording medium wherein electromagnetic conversion characteristics, especially a C/N ratio in a high-density recording area, are greatly improved. SOLUTION: This magnetic recording medium has a nonmagnetic layer containing nonmagnetic particles and a binder and a magnetic layer containing ferromagnetic hexagonal ferrite powders and a binder on a support in this order. A size of a magnetic aggregate present in the magnetic layer is 0.5μm or higher, and the number of magnetic aggregates having magnetic intensity larger by 20 times or more than an average value of magnetization disturbance obtained from a magnetic force image by a magnetic force microscope is 100/2000μm<2> . |
