PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To improve locking force by a lance. SOLUTION: A lance 12 is set in the area of an open space 17 extending from the point a little more than a half in a cavity 11 to a partition wall 16 at the right hand side of the cavity 11. As for a female side terminal fitting 20, the rear end face of a double layered bottom plate 25 of a main body section 22 is a face to be locked 30. As shown by the chained lines, a little more than a half of the right half area of the bottom plate 25 is to be an area to be locked 31 actually locked by a projection 14 of the lance 12. In a locked state, the projection 14 of the lance 12 receives force from a little more than a half of an inner and an outer plates 26, 27 which compose the bottom plate 25 and from the angled part 27X of the outer plate 27. Therefore, as a bigger locking margin can be secured compared with the locking by only one bottom plate and as the force given is dispersed due to the bigger pressure receiving area, the projection 14 becomes hard to be sheared and the locking force can be strengthened.
