PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To perform debugging as if a statement for indicating diagnosis described in a test edition program were valid also for debugging a product edition program compiled so as to invalidate a statement for debugging by a compile option. SOLUTION: When the compile option is indicated, a compiler generates an object module which invalidates the statement for debugging and generates debugging information for diagnosis to the statement for indicating diagnosis. When detecting debug information for diagnosis, a debugger sets an interruption point for diagnosis to an address equivalent to a row position where the statement for indicating diagnosis of a source program to a load module. When program to be debugged is performed and interruption occurs at the interruption point for diagnosis, the debugger alternatively performs the processing of the statement for diagnosis as it the statement for indicating diagnosis were valid.
