PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a video-reproducing device and a video reproducing method that can hardly cause misoperations and avoid troublesome operations, so as to enhance the convenience for a user in the case of switching to selectively output video signals of a plurality of kinds of systems from a common output terminal. SOLUTION: In the case of using a slide switch 16 to select video signal of the interlace system or a video signal of the progressive system and to output the selected video signal, when there exists a video signal adopting a system which is subordinate to the system selected by the slide switch 16, a remote controller 32 selects and outputs the video signal of the subordinate system together with the video signal of the system selected by the slide switch 16.
