PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To efficiently form a cesium layer of an electron emitting part by forming a Cs/Au layer (an alloy layer of cesium and gold) capable of sufficiently supplying cesium to the electron emitting part of a cold cathode. SOLUTION: When forming a cesium layer in an electron emitting means 10 (the cold cathode), first of al, a backing layer 25 composed of gold is formed in an upper part of the electron emitting means 10, and cesium is evaporated from a cesium source 22, and a layer 24 composed of Cs/Au is formed. At this time, since leads 26a to 26d use a platinum group element as a material, the cesium is not absorbed in the leads 26a to 26d, and is supplied to the layer 24. The cesium emitted to the electron emitting means 10 from the layer 24 is not absorbed in the leads 26a to 26d since the platinum group element is used for the leads 26a to 26d as the material, and forms the cesium layer in the electron emitting means 10.
|
