PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To suppress the occurrence of flickers. SOLUTION: The liquid crystal display device has: pixels in which pixel groups along a gate signal line are made into lines and the lines are arranged in a matrix manner; and a means which changes the polarities of the voltage to be applied to the liquid crystals of each pixel in one frame by alternating signals. Moreover, the device is provided with a means which obtains the accumulated value of the signal levels of pixel data for odd number lines for every frame and the accumulated value of the signal levels of the pixel data for even number lines for every frame, a means which conducts subtraction of these values, and a means which transmits other alternating signals that are different from the previously mentioned alternating signals when the subtracted value from the means that conducts the subtraction of the values is equal to or greater than a reference value.
