PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a flame sensor from which a photocurrent generated in the light-receiving section of a Schottky diode structure is outputted clearly, as compared with the dark current. SOLUTION: This flame sensor 1 has a Schottky diode section provided at least with a light-receiving layer 7 and a pair of electrodes 8 and 9 provided on both sides of the layer 7. The sensor 1 outputs light carriers generated in the light-receiving layer 7 as the photocurrent by applying a prescribed reverse bias voltage across the electrodes 8 and 9. The applied bias voltage has an absolute value smaller than that of the bias voltage, under which the value of a photocurrent outputted upon receiving irradiating light having the lowest measurable intensity becomes one time as large as that of the dark current.
