PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To obtain a high degree of vacuum from the initial stage just after completing a cathode-ray tube, and to reduce slumping of a cathode current caused by ion bombardment in an impregnation type cathode by reducing an inert gas quantity unadsorbable by a getter at getter flash time. SOLUTION: Preliminary heating processing is performed on the getter of a getter part 7 while performing evacuation by using a high frequency heating coil 8 before an exhaust process of evacuating the inside of the cathode-ray tube 100. A heating temperature is set to 500 to 600 deg.C, and heating time is set to 30 sec to 1 min. In this case, inert gas contained in the getter, for example, argon gas evaporates, and is exhausted by the evacuation. Thus, when flashing the getter after completing the exhaust process, the argon gas quantity discharged from the getter can be reduced.
