PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To execute distance mapping by directly run length encoded graphic/ text image data, without expanding in advance the run length encoded graphic/ text image data, and converting the data into a pixel matrix. SOLUTION: The task above can be solved by determining distances of the run lengths to an adjacent color, without having to decode the run length into a pixel matrix and generating a trapping frame, on the basis of the obtained distance.
