PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a film scanner, with which reading is enabled while fixing the number of pixels in the main scanning direction of a line sensor without complicating a structure regardless of a difference in the width dimension of a film. SOLUTION: In the film scanner, with which reading is enabled to the films of different widths, provided with a light source 301 for illuminating a film, on which an image is made into obvious image, an image pickup lens 302 for forming the image on the illuminated film and a line sensor 303 for reading the image by scanning the optical image formed by the image pickup lens 302 in the direction of the width of the film, in the line sensor 303, an angle position in the lengthwise direction of the relevant line sensor can be changed within the image forming plane of the image pickup lens 302 by an angle control motor 314. Reading is enabled while fixing the number of pixels in the main scan direction by the line sensor 303 regardless of the difference in the width of the film.
