PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a magneto-optical disk and a power optimizing method for laser light by which the laser power is optimized within a range not to erase a signal recorded on a magneto-optical recording medium. SOLUTION: In the magneto-optical disk 100, a band pass filter 104 receives a magneto-optical signal detected from a magneto-optical recording medium 10 by an optical head 102 through a regenerative signal amplifier circuit 103 and outputs only a signal having a prescribed signal length to an amplitude detecting circuit 107. In the amplitude detecting circuit 107, the amplitude of the magneto-optical signal is detected and outputted to a CPU 108. In the CPU 108, on the basis of the amplitude of the magneto-optical signal in the case of changing the power of laser light, a laser power with which the amplitude becomes maximum is determined as an optimal power.
