PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To enable high speed character input by using both hands and to provide a simple and high level security lock in a palm-size or wrist watch type information terminal or character input device. SOLUTION: In the character input device in which not so many keys are arranged, it is characterized in that switching of arrangement characters which can be inputted by keys by the character input device is performed by a shift switch device separate from the wirelessly connected character input device by a close-range communication function, and a character desired to be inputted can be inputted by one touch by holding the shift switch device with a hand that inputs not character and changing character arrangement of the device to the one so that the desired character is inputted. In addition, smaller one of the shift switch device or the character input device can be constantly carried as if wearing it since they are wireless and lock is not released when a user goes away from the device since a releasing function after the security lock is set is defined as establishment of communication between the devices.
