PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a portable telephone set capable of displaying brailles for enabling a visually impaired person to read the contents of a mail document received on the portable telephone set without needing a special device and to provide a braille representing method in a portable telephone set. SOLUTION: The portable telephone set is provided with: a controlling part (CPU part 103, memory part 104 and conversion processing part 105) which converts characters included in the received mail document into braille and prepares braille information by using particular numerical keys in a key operating part 111 designated as particular keys corresponding to each point constituting braille; and a key operation controlling part 110 for performing projection control of each key of the particular key based on the braille information notified from the controlling part. The particular keys are numerical keys constituting a matrix of two rows and three columns among numerical keys constituting the key operating part.
