A mechanically operated numbing unit esp. suitable for numbing caged poultry to be slaughtered, is equipped with a lowre compartment capable of holding an escape prevented numbing gas mixt. A periodically moved chain system (5) found between the lower and upper space-halves, of the unit carries cage-holding trays (7). Trays are guided by rollers (6) within the spaces, so, that they adjoin a rollers contg., cantilevered table (1), as well as a tilting slide (9). Cages are passed through the gas filled space. The gas container is provided with a gas inlet (10). |
