PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an operation method of a fuel cell in which durability and power-generating property is excellently exerted, as well as a fuel cell with excellent durability and power-generating efficiency. SOLUTION: The fuel cell structured so that oxygen-containing gas is circulated along the face of an oxygen electrode side and a hydrogen-containing gas is circulated along the face of a fuel electrode side in a cell with the oxygen electrode and the fuel electrode arranged separated at both sides of an electrolyte layer, is provided with a circulation direction reversing means V which can freely reverse circulation direction of hydrogen-containing gas against the flow path where hydrogen-containing gas is circulated along the face of the fuel cell side, and a control means 12 for controlling operation of the circulation direction reversing means V so as to repeatedly reversing the circulation direction of oxygen-containing gas or the circulation direction of hydrogen-containing gas. |
