PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a solid electrolyte for a fuel cell excellent in proton conductivity at high-temperature range and adapted to high-temperature operation, by using a complex compound containing a specific 4th group element. SOLUTION: The solid electrolyte is mainly composed of a complex compound containing a 4th group element obtained by gelating and curing of hydrolyzed matter of a mixture of a 4th-group element compound in the periodic table and at least one kind of compound having an element selected from second-group elements, third-group elements, 13th-group elements, 14th-group elements and 14th-group elements in the periodic table. |
