PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To directly detect abnormality with high accuracy on a transmission path in transmitting information by making an optical path to transmit monitoring signals. SOLUTION: A monitoring signal transmitting function is provided in a transmission side, and a monitoring signal receiving function is provided in a receiving side. Monitoring signals each consisting of one or multiple bits are periodically transmitted from the transmitting side, and these signals are received by the receiving side to monitor the abnormality of the optical path. The monitoring signal is composed of a field for indicating the total number of IP packets transmitted from the start to the end of monitoring or other information transmitting units, and a field for indicating a result of bit error detection calculation for the total IP packets transmitted from the start to the end of monitoring or other information transmitting units. |
