PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a display device and a display method capable of enlarging sufficiently the maximum gradation level and the total number of displayable gradation without increasing the number of the division of sub-fields and also capable of enhancing the reproducibility of a video signal being in a low gradation level. SOLUTION: In this display device, a gradation converting/diffusing circuit 2 diffuses the difference of a non-display gradation level and a display gradation level by an error diffusing processing when a video signal is a video signal being in the non-display gradation level, a video signal-to-sub-field relating unit 3 converts the video signal of one field posterior to the diffusion into a video signal of every sub-field and a sub-field processing unit 4, a scan and maintaining driving circuit 5 and a data driving circuit 6 make discharge cells of a plasma display panel 7 emit light or not emit light for every sub-field according to the video signal of every sub-field. |
