<p>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a function switch by which a user can assign a required function to a bar code reader. SOLUTION: The optical information reader is provided with a projection means 16 which projects light to a read object, a trigger means which instructs the projection means 16 for projecting light, a decode means which receives reflected light from the read object and decodes information contained in the read object, a data processing means 15 which processes the decoded data provided by the decode means, a memory means 33 which sets at least one operation mode for determining the operation format of the reader and assigns operational functions that can be set in the reader to respective operation modes, an operation mode changing switch which selects one of the operation modes set in the memory means 33, and a switch means 34 which is formed independently of the trigger means and calls an operational function assigned to the selected operation mode from the memory means 33.</p> |
