PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To carry out good recording/reproducing in a stable state by stabilizing the magnetization of a shield layer in a predetermined direction to suppress the generation of noise. SOLUTION: A hard bias film 4 made of a permanent magnet film is formed in both sides 1A of at least one track with Tw direction of upper and lower shield layers 3 and 1, and an end surface 4A in a side (ABS surface) opposite the magnetic recording medium of the hard bias film 4 is retreated inside more than the opposite surface (ABS surface) of the magnetic recording medium.
