摘要 PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an ion accelerator, simplified substantially, which efficiently pulls out all ions contained in acceleratable plasmas generated, and moreover, is capable of accelerating ion beams of long pulse width as well. SOLUTION: A plasma generating target 12 generating plasmas by irradiating a laser L for plasma generation, a vacuum container 16 pulling out ions from the plasmas generated from the plasma generating target 12, directly attached to an ton entrance 38 of an ion linear accelerator 30 and the ion linear accelerator 30 are connected in series, ions are made to come directly into the ion linear accelerator 30 using a dispersion speed of the plasmas. In this case, if a non-modulation interval widening a pulse width of the ion is formed at an accelerating electrode of the ion linear accelerator 30, ion beam of a pulse width of several dozen μseconds can be generated.
