HEXAGONAL FERRITE POWDER AND MAGNETIC RECORDING MEDIUM CONTAINING THE SAME

PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide hexagonal ferrite powder easily subjected to dispersion treatment and which is satisfactory in dispersibility and to provide a coating type magnetic recording medium containing the same and satisfactory in running durability and electromagnetic transducing characteristics. SOLUTION: The hexagonal ferrite powder has 3-7μmol/m<2> stearic acid adsorption and 1-4μmol/m<2> stearyl amine adsorption. The magnetic recording medium having a magnetic layer on a substrate is characterized in that the magnetic layer contains the hexagonal ferrite powder.
