PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To prevent a secret document or document data to be read only on the receiving side from being copied or transferred after distributing it by integrating character rewriting software in character data in the case of transmitting the character data from the transmitting side through a communication line such as the Internet so that displayed characters are rewritten to other characters after receiving and displaying them on the receiving side. SOLUTION: In a data communication system for transmitting/receiving mail data through a communication line, a rewriting program is annexed to mail data to be transmitted, and in the case of receiving and displaying the mail data on the receiving side, the rewriting program is driven and the mail data are rewritten to other optional data.
