PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a network device and a network system capable of realizing the functions of a composite machine by using various resources connected to a network by realizing inter-module communication through e-mails. SOLUTION: The network device is provided with an e-mail transmitting/ receiving means 11 for transmitting/receiving an e-mail describing its operation mode, an e-mail analysis means 12 for analyzing the e-mail received by the means 11 and preparing an operation program on the basis of the operation mode, an operation module 13 for realizing at least one image processing function, and a control means 14 for controlling the operation module 13 on the basis of the operation program.
