In order to reduce the content of carbon dioxide in the atmosphere, the invention provides a method for depleting carbon from the atmosphere according to which a carbon formulator is separated into at least two phases, whereby at least one phase is richer in carbon than at least one phase and/or whereby at least one first phase emits, with regard to the energy that can be extracted therefrom, more carbon dioxide than at least one second phase, and the first phase that is richer in carbon is disposed of.
