When a user wants to purchase a commodity through an automatic vending machine (12), the user permits a display unit (305) to display a unique linear bar code assigned to a portable telephone (13) and permits a bar code reader (204) to read the bar code. When the read linear bar code is sent to a server apparatus (11), the server apparatus (11) checks the attribute of the pre−registered user. If the user is a person who can purchase the commodity, the server apparatus (11) issues a two−dimensional bar code and sends it to a pre−registered address. When the portable telephone (13) receives the two−dimensional bar code, the user permits the display unit (305) to display the two−dimensional bar code and permits the bar code reader (204) to read the bar code. When the server apparatus (11) receives the two−dimensional bar code from the automatic vending machine (12), the server apparatus (11) sends a sale permission message for enabling sale of the commodity to the automatic vending machine (12).
