A glycolipid useful for treatments for autoimmune diseases; and a remedy for autoimmune diseases which contains the glycolipid as an active ingredient. T he glycolipid is represented by the following formula (I): (I) wherein R1 represents an aldopyranose residue; R2 represents hydrogen or hydroxy; R3 represents -CH2-, -CH(OH)-CH2-, or -CH=CH-; R4 represents hydrogen or CH3; x is 0 to 35; and y and z each is an integer satisfying 0<=Y+Z<=3.
