The invention relates to a device and a working method for automatically changing sets of rolls consisting of work rolls, back-up rolls and intermediate rolls of a single-stand or a multiple-stand strip mill, by means of a roll-changing carriage which can be transversally displaced in relation to the strip roll stand (1) and by means of a dismantling bracket (3) for dismantling the set of back-up rolls (10, 13). In order to reduce the time (2) needed to change the rolls and in order to automate the roll-changing procedure, the dismantling bracket (3) can be positioned on the roll-changing carriage and is provided with wheels (4) on which, in inventive working steps, it can be introduced into the strip roll stand on guide rails (5) extending parallel to the rolls (10, 13), from the roll-changing carriage on the intermediate roll rails (8), and can be extracted from the strip roll stand together with the set of back-up rolls. |
