A pair of high-spatial-frequency images are compared, to determine correlation function for a set sparsely distributed correlation function value point of a correlation function. The correlation function is analyzed to identify the correlation function value point that lies within the peak portion. Independent claims are also included for the following: (1) image-correlation-based displacement measurement system; and (2) recording medium storing peak correlation function determination program.
