An apparatus for holding hold and/or taking tissue material from living organs, e.g. a biological biopsy, has a hollow cylinder open at one end for a relative insertion into a third hollow cylinder, so that both their openings are at the same end of the apparatus. The two cylinders are closed by a second hollow cylinder. The first cylinder contains a plunger to move the tissue sample into it.
