<p>A novel protein having a monocarboxylic acid- or amino acid-transporting activity; DNA encoding this protein; a method of screening a compound promoting or inhibiting the activity of the above protein; compounds obtained by the screening method; etc. The above-described protein is useful as, for example, a diagnostic marker for kidney diseases, pancreas diseases, diabetes, metabolic acidosis, hypertension, heart diseases, liver diseases, muscle diseases or cancer. The compounds promoting or inhibiting the activity of this protein which are obtained by the screening method with the use of the protein are usable as, for example, preventives and remedies for the above diseases.</p> |
