METHOD FOR CUTTING ABRASIVE STRIPS BY PETALS OF GRINDING DISCS AND DIE SET FOR PERFORMING THE SAME

FIELD: tools and processes for dividing materials, namely manufacture from abrasive strip petals of grinding discs for burning free finish grinding. SUBSTANCE: method comprises steps of placing abrasive strip having base and cutting grains in die of die set mounted in die holder; embedding punch in the form of several cutting members having apex and cutting edge closely arranged along division contour into abrasive strip at side of carrying base; initially pricking strip by means of apexes of cutting members and then widening pricks until their merging with pricks of adjacent cutting members. Die is made of material penetrated for cutting members. Die holder is in the form of rotary drum whose lower portion is immersed into vessel with binding mass. Each cutting member is in the form of asymmetrical wedge with leading and back angles; length of cutting edge exceeds distance between apexes of two adjacent cutting members.
