The invention relates to a differential magnetometer comprising at least one active coil (4, 5) and a receiver coil (10) having differential-mounted windings. The inventive magnetometer is provided with a measuring circuit (14) with an automatic control device which corrects any asymmetry that appears between the windings (11, 12) in order to cancel residual flux density at the frequency of the exciting magnetic field, which is intended to sensitise the measuring coil (10) without affecting same.
