The invention relates to a method for treating radioactive waste (A) existing, in particular, in the form of contaminated ion-exchange resin, with which a reliable intermediate storage or final storage of the waste (A) with a particularly small volume requirement is made possible. To this end, the invention provides that the waste (A) is mixed with transport water and the mixture is fed to an oxidation reactor (2) inside of which a wet oxidation of organic constituents of the waste (A) takes place under conditions that are supercritical for water (H2O).
