The device has a brake rod (23) and an accelerator rod (24) associated with the brake (12) and accelerator (13) pedals respectively. The rods are connected to opposite sides of a two-armed lever (21) at the ends remote from the pedals. The two-arm lever is pivotable about an axle lying between the rod linkages (35). The rods are operated in opposition by the two-arm lever. The rods can have telescopic extensions associated with the linkages.
