The use of a resorcinol/formalin/latex-adhesive composition containing a special metal oxide and an sulfur-containing vulcanization accelerator in treatment of aramid cords, and tires made of ethylene- alpha olefin rubber with embedded aramid fibers can be obtained at high output. Automobile power transmission tires including an adhesive layer and a compression layer joined by vulcanization and containing aramid fibers embedded in the rubber layer, the vulcanizate consists of an ethylene- alpha -olefin-diene rubber compound, and the aramid fiber cords, of initial twisting factor (sic) and final twisting factor both between 650 and 950, are treated with a resorcinol/formalin/latex/adhesive composition (I) containing an sulfur-containing vulcanization accelerator, i.e. either chlorosulfonated polyethylene or alkylated chlorosulfonated polyethylene, in amount 50-100 wt.%, relative to the latex solids, and a special metal oxide, the dynamic adhesion between the aramid cords and the adhesive rubber can be improved if the cords are immersed in the adhesive rubber and dried at up to 21 deg C, and the power transmission tires made of ethylene-alpha olefin rubber with embedded aramid fibers can be obtained at high output. An Independent claim is included for production of automobile tires as described about with final drying of the polyester fiber cords at 210-260 deg C. |
