Remedies for prostatic cancer and malignant lymphoma comprising FK228 or its salt as the active ingredient; and a method of evaluating the antitumor effe ct of a histone deacetylase inhibitor characterized by comprising at least the step of treating test cells with the histone deacetylase inhibitor and the step of measuring a change in the expression of a specific gene in the test cells before and after the treatment with the inhibitor and comparing the expression doses thus measured.
