The invention relates to a motor vehicle steering system comprising a vibration damper for torsional vibrations which are introduced into a steering wheel via a steering spindle. At least one metal element (3) is placed on the steering wheel in relation to the centre point of said steering wheel in a position which is as far outward as possible. The specific weight thereof is nominally greater than that of the steering wheel material. Preferably, the metal element (3) is embodied in the form of a ring and elastically embedded into the steering wheel rim (1); whereby the metal element (3) can be rotated on the steering wheel plane about the centre point of the steering wheel at least slightly in relation to the edge of the steering wheel rim (1). The metal element is suspended on the steering wheel rim by means of an elastomer element (4). The metal element can be fully or only partially connected to the steering wheel rim; from a cross-sectional point of view, by means of an elastic link. Preferably, the steering wheel rim (1) is provided with a recess which accommodates the metal element and which is provided with a cover (5) on which the metal element is elastically suspended. |
