To extract sludge from a body of water, a housing (2) with enclosed sides is rammed into the sludge (3), under the water (1), to form a closed space. A flushing head (4) is inserted into the enclosed space, to break down the sludge, to be extracted by a suction pump (5). At the collection point, the sludge and water are separated by mesh belt presses.
