The container (1) has an opening (3) for the passage of e.g. an applicator brush (7). An elastic stripper element (9) with a slot opening is located in the container opening, so that excess application material on the brush is removed when the brush is extracted from the material inside the container. The applicator is a brush, sponge, spiral, tip etc. and is carried on the end of a rod (6) held axially sliding in the container base (2).
