A closure device (121) for a thermoplastic bag (120) which includes two opposing, longitudinally extending interlockable male and female fastening strips (130, 131) having respective male and female closure elements or profiles (134, 136) that are deformed to interdigitate and produce an audibl e clicking sound and or tactile effect that is perceptible to the touch as the closure device (121) is opened and closed. Interdigitation of the two profil es (134, 136) is achieved by cold forming the profiles (134, 136) while interlocked. The shape of the cold form is a stepped deflection (126a, 126b) of both profiles (134, 136) so that their shapes are generally congruent. Th e stepped deflections (126a, 126b) provide a change in the occlusion and peel force of the interlocking closure device (121) thereby resulting in an audib le clicking or popping sound as the closure device (121) is opened and closed a nd a tactile effect that is perceptible to the touch as the closure device (121 ) is closed. |
