PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide both a diazo compound having excellent storage stability and useful as various kinds of synthetic intermediates and a heat-sensitive recording material having excellent color developing properties, substrate surface fogging and raw stock shelf life, etc. SOLUTION: This diazo compound is represented by the following general formula (I) or general formula (II) [wherein, R<1> denotes an electron attractive group; R<2> denotes an electron attractive group, hydrogen atom or a substituent; and R<3> denotes hydrogen atom or a substituent]. |
